What do Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks and White House press room reporters have in common? Coffee of course.
It seems Hanks, during a vist to the White House years ago, passed by the press room and noticed their dismal coffee-making equipment, according to Ed Chen, White House Correspondents Association president. At that time, he splurged for a new coffeemaker.
Well, this week, he replaced it, Chen said. The new cafe machinery was delivered Tuesday to the delight of caffeine-addicted reporters.
“He had given us one before and he recently walked through the press room again and noticed it was a little warn,” Chen, a Bloomberg correspondent, explained. “There are people here who enjoy drinking coffee and having it available.”
So what's next? Harrison Ford buying a water cooler?
In honor of Hanks, a clip below of a trailer for his most well-known Washington movie, Charlie Wilson's War.
