On the July 5 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show Michael Savage discussed a recent hunger strike organized by five students in the San Francisco area to show their support for The DREAM Act, a provision of the 2007 Comprehensive Immigration bill (S.1639). The DREAM (or Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors) Act would provide a pathway to citizenship and other benefits for certain illegal immigrants who entered the United States before the age of 16 if they graduate from high school and enroll in either college or the military. In discussing the students, Savage stated: “I would say, let them fast until they starve to death then that solves the problem. Because then we won't have a problem about giving them green cards because they're illegal aliens, they don't belong here to begin with.”
Savage went on to play a news report on the hunger strike, which said that engineering students are waiting for the DREAM Act to be passed so that they can enter the workforce. Following the clip, Savage responded: “We don't need you as engineers, go back to where you came from. ... Go be an engineer there. You stole the education from us; now give it back to your home country. Go make a bomb where you came from.”
From the July 5 edition of Talk Radio Network's The Savage Nation:
SAVAGE: Then there's the story of college students who are fasting out here in the Bay Area. They're illegal aliens and they want green cards simply because they're students. I don't understand what -- how this two and two adds up. I would say, let them fast until they starve to death, then that solves the problem. Because then we won't have a problem about giving them green cards because they're illegal aliens; they don't belong here to begin with. They broke into the country; they're criminals. Why do I owe them a green card? Because they're going to my colleges for free? This makes no sense at all. Listen to clip 11:

UNIDENTIFIED REPORTER: Nalleli and four other students want Congress to pass an immigration reform bill that includes the DREAM Act, a clause that would give undocumented college graduates the opportunity to become legal. They are fasting for four days to show solidarity.
UNIDENTIFIED STUDENT: We have engineers who are still waiters. And they are just waiting for the DREAM Act to be enacted so they can become engineers. We have pre-med students who [unintelligible] --
SAVAGE [over clip]: We don't need you as engineers. Go back to where you came from. Go back to where you came from and be an engineer. That's all. Go give your talents to your home country. Go be an engineer there. You stole the education from us; now give it back to your home country. Go make a bomb where you came from. This is unbelievable.
