In a September 21 post to The New York Times' Media Decoder blog, Brian Stelter highlighted Media Matters' upcoming SiriusXM radio program, which airs live on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon with a repeat broadcast on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. From The New York Times:
Media Matters for America, the media monitoring group that directs most of its ire at Fox News and talk radio, is getting a radio show of its own, albeit temporarily.
For six weeks, the group will have a two-hour show on Sirius XM Radio.
The show, to be announced on Wednesday and to commence Saturday, gives Sirius a bit more content for its SiriusXM Left channel and gives Media Matters a tryout of sorts in the radio space.
Already, Media Matters has signaled an interest in creating its own content in addition to critiquing others' content. It produces a “Media Matters Minute” video roughly once a day and a longer Web show, “The Big Picture,” once a week.
These videos typically take aim at Fox and other targets and condemn or mock what the group says is misinformation in the media.
The Sirius radio show will be hosted by Ari Rabin-Havt, an executive at Media Matters, and Bradley Herring, an executive producer of the Media Matters Web site. They will analyze a “cross section of print, broadcast, cable, radio and Internet media outlets” and alert listeners to “take action” against misinformation, according to a news release. The show will be produced live on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon and will be repeated on Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
