Rush opened today's “Open Line Friday” by reading from a New York Daily News article reporting that Treasury Secretary Geithner was asked about George Steinbrenner's estate avoiding taxation due to this year's lapse in the estate tax. Rush - who said last week that Steinbrenner “knew when to die” - claimed that a retroactive “death tax” would be passed soon. Limbaugh then read from an Associated Press story about a Wisconsin state assembly candidate who wanted to use the slogan “not the white man's bitch.” Rush tried to tie this story to Shirley Sherrod, stating that if the candidate lost her election, there's a position open at the USDA.
Limbaugh then spent some time praising MSNBC's Luke Russert for his questioning of Congressman Charlie Rangel - while apologizing to Russert for his praise, which Rush asserted would get him into trouble. He then asserted that the city of Harlem is “proud of” its “time honored tradition of corruption” - claiming that he was not, in fact, attacking Harlem.
Here are the highlights from today's show:
Limbaugh: Netroots Nation “going after” Democrats is like “Hezbollah going after Hamas”
Rush: “George W. Bush is still stimulating the economy that Obama is trying to ruin”
