For months conservative media have advocated on behalf of TransCanada Corporation, the Canadian company seeking to build the Keystone XL pipeline through the U.S. to carry tar sands oil from Alberta to the Gulf of Mexico. After opposing every major effort under the Obama administration to stimulate the economy, conservative media -- led by Fox News -- have claimed that the pipeline should be approved because it would provide jobs even as it threatens the environment.
