I don't think it will happen, but it sure would be fun to watch him try. Lord knows, as Jamison Foser recently noted, nobody cherry picks polling data for a living quite like Laura Bush's former flak, Malcolm. And if there's a more relentless, unapologetic Palin cheerleader anywhere in the press corps, I'd like to meet them.
Still, the latest poll findings might be too much even for a Super Fan like Malcolm to disguise. As the WashPost's Greg Sargent notes, recent findings from an NBC/WSJ poll confirm that a Palin endorsement for a candidate running for Congress is positively toxic.
Here were the responses from voters when asked about a candidate touting a Palin endorsement [emphasis original, via Sargent]:
Enthusiastic about this attribute 8
Comfortable with this attribute 17
Have some reservations about this attribute 15
Very uncomfortable with this attribute 37
In a way this isn't big news, only because Americans have been absolutely consistent in telling pollsters how little they think of Palin as a politician and potential leader. (Not that Beltway media insiders seem interested in that information.) But still, it would be fun to watch Malcolm do his best to try to spin these dismal results and explain why it's all very good news for the GOP.
