Leave it to Vanity Fair to put a proper spin on Newsweek putting Sarah Palin on the cover next week, just as the newsweekly is up for sale.
“If Newsweek is going to command a decent price, now that it's on the block, its editors are going to have to follow Norman Pearlstine's sage advice and publish stories that get people talking,” VF editors claim. “The easiest way to do that? Write about Sarah Palin, human repository of America's most cherished wrong ideas. But since this is a news weekly we're talking about, it is also necessary to bring in religion, in hopes of appealing to pious red-state readers who take their faith as seriously as New Yorkers take restaurant reviews. Thus we have this week's cover of ”Saint Sarah," featuring a Photoshopped image of the retired Alaska governor as a saint, complete with shiny gown and halo."
