On Univision's Edición Nocturna, Juan Carlos Aguiar highlighted Flavia Jiménez of the civil rights organization Advancement Project who explained that the 30-second anti-immigrant ad from the nativist organization Californians For Population Stabilization (CAPS) that aired during CNN's first Democratic presidential debate is a “racial and ethnic attack against the Latino community.” According to the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC), CAPS belongs to a network that includes several organizations that have been labeled as “hate groups.” The ad's claim that immigrants are to blame for California's drought-induced water storage have been thoroughly debunked in the media and by by climatology experts.
