A Nevada radio program has been a supportive platform to bizarre and unhinged election conspiracy theories from Republican secretary of state nominee Jim Marchant. During his appearances, Marchant has ranted about a global conspiracy of bankers controlling “everything” in the world; alleged Democrats and Republicans have “installed anybody they want'' in Nevada since 2008; and claimed a “cabal” has been purposely destroying the country, including through COVID-19, so they can “rebuild it in the fashion that they want.”
Marchant leads a coalition of “America First” candidates, which consists of Republicans who back the lie that the 2020 election was stolen from Donald Trump and are seeking offices that oversee voting in their respective states. Marchant and his coalition have also collaborated with QAnon conspiracy theorists.
Marchant frequently appears on the Reno, Nevada-based program America Matters with Eddie Floyd. On the program, which airs on KFOY and is live-streamed through Facebook, Marchant is given carte blanche to espouse election conspiracy theories and promote his campaign. (Facebook frequently hosts election misinformation and conspiracy theories.) Host Eddie Floyd also falsely portrays Marchant as an expert on voting issues, claiming at one point, “Nobody, I think, knows more about technology and the history of what has taken place with Dominion [voting machines] than you.” Marchant and Floyd have a financial connection: Marchant has paid Floyd’s company America Matters Media $1,413 between July 1, 2021, and February 27, 2022, for advertising expenses, according to Nevada campaign finance records.
In Marchant's telling, there is a “socialist,” “communist,” and “globalist” “cabal” that is responsible for rigging elections. At the top of this conspiracy is the World Economic Forum, a group of “elitist globalists that control everything” in the world, including President Joe Biden.
According to Marchant, the “cabal” has been responsible for a variety of sins, including rigging every election since 2008 in Nevada and exporting that model to the rest of the country; registering “illegals” at the DMV and then harvesting their ballots; installing Barack Obama as president; buying off countless Republican officials; purposely destroying the country, including through COVID-19, so it can rebuild it to its specifications; and rigging the 2020 vote through the use of Dominion voting machines.
Marchant’s allegations are bizarre considering that while he claims “in Nevada, we haven’t elected anybody since 2006” because of vote rigging, he won a Nevada state Assembly seat in 2016. Marchant also recently won his Republican primary (he’s still raised doubts about the result). He has also attempted to explain away the presence of red states by claiming they only exist to make the cabal’s cheating not “too obvious.” The cabal was also not powerful enough to stop Donald Trump from winning in 2016.
Media Matters previously reported that Marchant used his America Matters platform to express support for a proposal requiring voters to re-register. The program's hosts praised Marchant and didn’t explain to listeners that such a plan would violate federal law and was a mechanism of Jim Crow segregationists who used it to prevent Black people from voting.
The pro-election lies program America Matters has frequently featured election conspiracy theories from Jim Marchant. Here are many of them:
Marchant claimed that "we haven’t elected anybody since 2006” in Nevada because all those elections have been “rigged” and Obama was “installed by the communist socialist cabal.” From October 18, 2021:
