In the August 9 New York Post, a list of political “winners” and “losers” from Sen. Joseph I. Lieberman's defeat in the August 8 Connecticut Democratic primary included “the troops” among “the losers.” The Post explained: “Lieberman's hawkishness and support for the war on terror had played well among military members.”

Other “losers” listed by the Post were “Bill and Hillary Clinton,” the “Jewish community,” and “President Bush.” The Post listed the following as “winners”: “Al Gore,” "[b]loggers," “Revs. Al Sharpton/Jesse Jackson,” and “Moveon.org.”
