On the June 2 edition of American Family Radio's AFA Report, host Don Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association (AFA), and a panel of AFA employees lit up the airwaves with anti-Latino and anti-immigrant rhetoric.

First, AFA Journal news director Ed Vitagliano declared that America's Latino community should “answer[] for the comment” from Mexican President Vicente Fox that undocumented immigrants in the U.S. do jobs “even blacks wouldn't do”:

VITAGLIANO: Any response from the Hispanic community to illegal immigration should start with answering for the comment from the president of Mexico.

Later, American Family Radio news director Fred Jackson warned that illegal immigration was directly responsible for the election of Los Angeles mayor-elect Antonio Villaraigosa and would result in the election of Latino mayors across the United States:

JACKSON: And one of the signs of what's going on politically is -- I believe -- Los Angeles just elected its first Hispanic mayor and, there's been a lot written about that. And that is a direct result of what's been going on with illegal immigration over the last 20 or 30 years. And they say that scenario that just played out in Los Angeles is going to repeat itself in communities across the United States.

Soon after, Jackson sought to qualify his remark while maintaining his suggestion that Latino politicians will divide the United States into “two nations”:

JACKSON: You know, with the Los Angeles situation, I have no problem with a Hispanic mayor being elected. It's not an ethnic issue. But the problem is, like brother Don [Wildmon] said, we don't want to have two nations within our borders that can't communicate with one another and natural hostility will develop.

Founded by Wildmon, American Family Radio is a network of nearly 200 radio stations across the country whose stated mission is “to inform Christians about what is happening in America.” It is operated by the AFA, which claims that it “represents and stands for traditional family values.”
