Rush opened today's show by using some of his favorite Obama attacks. First, he announced that 18 states have joined together to oppose “ObamaCare” and said that the bill is causing mass confusion around the country; he stated that he “hope[s]” millions of people are confused about their health and try to go to their doctor's office to demand free care. Rush then moved on to the U.S. Census, first blaming the media (which Rush encouraged his audience to always doubt) for inventing the story about conservatives distrusting the Census, (because conservatives would never attack the Census) followed immediately by Rush telling his audience not to answer the ethnicity questions and fearmongering about the American Community Survey.
Rush also spent a good deal of time in the first hour talking about the story of an African-American man who killed a dog that kept barking at him. Rush, always up for a little race-baiting and mockery, announced that the man was simply defending himself as the victim of the racist dog's hate crime. Rush was so distracted by this story, he told us in the second hour, that he forgot to mention how much he “love[s] it” that Iran's Mahmoud Ahmadinejad called Obama inexperienced and criticized his nuclear review. After the novelty of the racist dog wore off, Rush filled time by attacking Obama for not using the term Islamic radical, and for authorizing the killing of American citizen Anwar al-Awlaki while the 9-11 terrorists get Miranda rights and civilian trials.
In the third hour, Rush spent a lot of time decrying the decay of our society caused by the Obama “regime” (his new favorite term), criticizing the “state controlled media” for blaming the West Virginia mining disaster on capitalism and the mine owner instead of Obama. He also spent a great deal of today's show attacking Obama for his supposed arrogance and inexperience, his destruction of our economy and national security, and anything else Rush could think of; of course, that pretty much describes every show. Finally, with six minutes left, Rush weighed in on the recent coverage of the Catholic Church's sexual abuse scandal, telling a caller that the story is an example of the forces of the left trying to tear down every institution that stands for something.
And with that, here are some of the highlights from today's show:
